Following the devastation of Hurricane Maria, Puerto Rico faced one of the most significant power crises in its history. The island’s ageing electrical infrastructure, much of it originally commissioned in the 1960s and 1970s suffered extensive damage, resulting in widespread outages and long-term instability.
To restore dependable power generation and improve system resilience, New Fortress Energy deployed multiple mobile gas turbine units across Puerto Rico. ESS was selected to provide full installation, commissioning, and ongoing operational support for this critical project.
Across two major sites, ESS helped bring 17 gas turbines online, bolstering energy security during a period of urgent need and laying the foundation for long-term grid stability.
